Sasol North America's CERALOX® high purity alumina manufacturing
facility is located in Tucson, Arizona, USA. CERALOX® aluminas are sold throughout
the world for high tech applications including synthetic crystal growth, high purity and ultra-high purity
ceramics for semi-conductor processing, bio-ceramics, ceramics for translucent lighting components
and other specialty applications. CERALOX® aluminas are also used in fluorescent lamp coatings,
aluminate phosphors, luminescent materials and specialty abrasive, reinforcement and scratch resistant products.
Sasol's Tucson facility produces both high purity and ultra-high purity calcined alumina products in gamma,
transitional or alpha crystalline phase. Ceralox® calcined aluminas with purities up to 99.999% are available
unmilled or as dry milled powders with particle size distributions ranging from 5 micron to 0.25 micron. Developmental wet milled alumina slurries filtered to
less than one micron with median particle diameters as small as 100nm are also available.
The Sasol Tucson plant's ultra pure alumina production compliments the specialty
boehmite alumina process technology that Sasol's Inorganic Division also employs in Lake Charles, La (USA) and
Brunsbüttel (Germany).  Tucson's unique calcination and milling technology provides unmatched
possibilities for tailoring Sasol's various alumina feedstocks into exceptional aluminum oxide products.
